Unclaimed

The sun shines brighter in the sky

Raindrops remnant on the leaf

A darkness spreads inside my soul

I quietly drink my grief.

A song of Innocence lost beneath

the trodden conscience on the ground

The sunshine fails to obliterate

the pain; the dirges have no sound.

The wound still reeks of bourbon breath

that raged inside the bolted door

The hand still dreads the iron fist

that dragged me merciless, across the floor.

Those eyes still kiss the open sky ,

still drink the power that pain subdued

I walk, still nameless, in the crowd,

the sun shines on, as I lie bruised .
